Junior Test Engineer (VOR)

Location: Hybrid or remote in the United States; headquarters in Washington, DC

What you will do

• Test VOR web interfaces, APIs, data integrations, and AI-enabled workflows.
• Explore user scenarios, edge cases, unexpected inputs, and failure conditions.
• Document defects with reproduction steps, expected and actual results, screenshots, logs, and API responses.
• Build and maintain automated tests with guidance from experienced engineers.
• Evaluate AI-enabled features for grounded responses, citations, tool behavior, and uncertainty handling.
• Investigate failed tests, verify fixes, and communicate remaining quality risks for release decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field and at least 1 year of professional experience.
• At least 2 years of foundational testing or development experience through employment, internships, coursework, or personal projects.
• Understanding of functional, regression, and exploratory testing.
• Ability to translate user goals into test scenarios and investigate unclear issues.
• Willingness to learn scripting and test automation with Python or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Eligibility to obtain a U.S. security clearance is required.

Nice to have

• Exposure to Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.
• Experience testing APIs with Postman, curl, or automated test frameworks.
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, application logs, SQL, containers, or cloud environments.
• Experience with AI coding assistants or applications incorporating language models.
