Sr. QA Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote - California

Salary: $100,000–$135,000 for Chicago/National locations; $115,000–$150,000 for SF/NY.

What you will do

• Embed with Agile Scrum teams and represent quality and testability throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Build and maintain automated UI, REST API, database, and data-validation tests using Java and Python.
• Own regression suites, improve coverage, resolve flaky tests, and run automated checks through CI/CD after deployments and nightly.
• Validate HIPAA and SOX controls, including PHI access, handling, logging, and requirements traceability.
• Analyze failures, identify root causes, create reproducible defect reports, and coordinate resolutions.
• Validate off-hours deployments, assess release readiness, provide go/no-go quality recommendations, and mentor junior QA engineers.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software QA experience, including 5+ years writing test automation.
• Strong programming ability in Java and/or Python.
• Hands-on UI automation experience with Playwright or Selenium.
• API testing experience with REST Assured, Postman, or similar tools, including schema, contract, and authentication checks.
• Experience with CI/CD systems such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI; solid SQL skills and experience with performance or load testing.
• Working knowledge of HIPAA, HL7, and FHIR, plus a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• ISTQB or ASTQB certification.
• Experience with AWS or Azure and Docker.
• Experience in a regulated environment such as a CLIA/CAP laboratory, FDA-regulated organization, or SOX environment.
• Knowledge of genetic testing, molecular biology, or another scientific discipline.
