Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

Location: Marina del Rey, California, United States. Hybrid and fully remote work options are available.

Salary: $90,000–$120,000 per year.

What you will do

• Plan feature testing, covering happy paths, edge cases, boundary values, and negative cases.
• Build and maintain automated tests for REST and GraphQL APIs, backend services, web UIs, and partner APIs.
• Validate data pipelines through schema, row-count, freshness, and business-rule checks.
• Test AI and ML features, including model and prompt comparisons, shadow deployments, AI agents, and MCP server behavior.
• Integrate test suites into CI/CD pipelines, triage failures, reduce flakiness, and validate releases across preview, staging, and production.
• Monitor production quality, investigate incidents, identify root causes, and communicate findings across engineering, product, data science, and customer-facing teams.

Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience as a QA engineer or SDET with hands-on test automation.
• Strong coding skills in Python or another suitable language such as Java, TypeScript, or Go.
• Experience with API testing, including request and response validation, schema checks, and negative cases.
• Experience with Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or a comparable modern UI end-to-end framework.
• Working SQL skills and the ability to inspect logs, network calls, and databases while debugging.
• Experience with Git, pull requests, code review, CI/CD pipelines, and clear technical communication.

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud platforms, containers, data pipelines, orchestration tools, or data warehouses.
• Experience testing ML models, LLM-powered features, AI agents, or MCP servers.
• Experience with observability, alerting, synthetic monitoring, performance testing, or load testing.
• Background in ad tech, digital media, third-party platform APIs, or React.
• Knowledge of security basics for test environments and test-account secret management.
