Senior Analyst (AI)

Location: San Francisco or New York City preferred; candidates elsewhere in North American time zones may be considered. In-office preferred, hybrid considered. Office hours.

What you will do

• Own company and sector research from the initial question through publication or client presentation.
• Build and maintain financial models with documented assumptions, sources, and downside cases.
• Analyze GPU rental economics, utilization, capital expenditure, depreciation, financing costs, and contracts.
• Evaluate AI lab business models, compute spending, funding needs, product economics, and AI demand.
• Interview executives, customers, suppliers, and industry specialists while validating claims against independent evidence.
• Lead client discussions and review junior analysts’ models and written work.

Requirements

• Experience owning research, financial analysis, or commercial diligence in finance, consulting, corporate strategy, or a comparable field.
• Typically three or more years of relevant experience, with demonstrated responsibility and high-quality work valued over fixed tenure.
• Ability to build financial models from incomplete data and explain key assumptions.
• Strong independent judgment, clear writing, and ability to defend conclusions in detailed discussions.
• Interest in AI and willingness to learn how technical constraints affect costs and business results.
• Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets and careful handling of confidential information and research sources.

Nice to have

• Experience covering cloud software, digital infrastructure, semiconductors, or AI.
• Credit analysis, project finance, or commercial diligence experience.
• Background in investment banking, equity research, asset management, private equity, venture capital, credit, management consulting, transaction advisory, corporate finance, or strategy.
• Python, SQL, and data collection skills.
