Commissioning Engineer - Communication & Networks (HVDC)

Location: Manchester, United Kingdom; office/site only. The role includes worldwide business travel and long-term site assignments in Germany or abroad, including optional offshore deployments lasting more than one year.

What you will do

• Commission HVDC systems at construction sites, focusing on data networks and SCADA-level network communication components.
• Test and verify network infrastructures, communication interfaces, and HMI concepts in the test center and on project sites.
• Commission and manage predominantly TCP/IP-based network infrastructure, HMI solutions, and project-specific adaptations.
• Ensure time synchronization and manage local and remote signal converters and interfaces with signal providers.
• Support commissioning teams, customers, and external partners with communication-interface testing and troubleshooting.
• Contribute to Lean improvement programs, reviews, lessons learned, and quality, risk, and claim management.

Requirements

• Completed degree in electrical engineering, energy technology, or a comparable qualification.
• Ability to read circuit diagrams and work with electrical systems and measuring instruments.
• Experience with network administration, including switches, routers, PC hardware, virtualization, and basic HMI administration.
• Foundational knowledge of TCP/IP, RADIUS, network security, monitoring, and time synchronization.
• Strong communication skills, proactive collaboration, decision-making, and conflict-management abilities.
• Willingness to travel worldwide and accept long-term assignments in Germany or abroad, including optional offshore deployments lasting more than one year.
