Senior Data Engineer (dbt/BigQuery)

Location: WFH in Poland, Krakow

Base salary: PLN 224,000–308,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, build, and evolve dbt models in the Unified Analytics Model for financial and billing data.
• Define data grain, conformed dimensions, historical tracking, reconciliation, validation, and documentation standards.
• Build and maintain Python-based ETL pipelines running on a Kubernetes-based platform and loading data into BigQuery.
• Write and optimize complex SQL, monitor pipelines, investigate incidents, and implement durable fixes.
• Lead multi-sprint technical initiatives and collaborate with Finance system owners, BI, analysts, and product managers.
• Use AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code while reviewing, testing, and owning all generated code.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a related role.
• Strong production experience with dbt, expert SQL skills, and deep expertise in dimensional and financial data modeling.
• Production experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines in Python, including monitoring, alerting, and root cause analysis.
• Hands-on experience with cloud data warehouses, preferably BigQuery, and familiarity with Docker, Git, branching, code review, and CI/CD.
• Experience with AI-assisted coding tools and the judgment to review and test their output.
• Ability to lead technical work across a team, communicate with finance stakeholders, and work in a distributed environment spanning multiple time zones and cultures.

Nice to have

• Experience with finance, accounting, billing, payments, SaaS revenue, subscriptions, month-end close, restatements, audits, or financial controls.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform services beyond BigQuery, Go, Terraform, Monte Carlo, Fivetran, or data catalog and governance tools.
