Senior Data Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Seattle, United States; hybrid work with three days per week in the office

Salary: $140,000–$240,000 annual base pay, plus potential equity and bonus.

What you will do

• Design scalable data models for business intelligence, machine learning, and operational decision-making.
• Select and implement appropriate schema designs, including star, snowflake, normalized, and denormalized models.
• Build and maintain batch and streaming ETL pipelines from ingestion and transformation through delivery.
• Partner with business teams, Data Platform Engineers, and Product Managers to create documented models and resolve data issues.
• Improve data consistency, traceability, quality, governance, metadata, privacy, security, and lifecycle management.
• Explore practical applications of data engineering and AI across products and operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Five or more years of experience designing and implementing ETL pipelines with Informatica, Talend, Apache NiFi, or similar platforms.
• Strong experience with data modeling, schemas, ETL, and end-to-end data workflows.
• Proficiency in SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and data warehousing solutions.
• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform, especially BigQuery and Airflow.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and data engineering skills, with particular strength in data modeling or ETL.

Nice to have

• Experience in financial services, payments, or fintech.
• Knowledge of data governance and financial-industry regulatory requirements.
• Experience with Python or R for data analysis and automation.
• Experience with distributed or multi-datacenter systems, data migration, duplication, and consistency challenges.
• Certification in data management or related technologies.
