Project Engineer II - Automation

What you will do

• Apply power-system automation knowledge and SEL products to complete complex engineering assignments.
• Lead customer training and support for the creation, design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning, and operation of automation and protection systems.
• Assign, complete, and implement work within agreed scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety requirements.
• Assist with preparing and presenting proposals for SEL equipment, services, and systems.
• Mentor and develop professional staff and supervise when required.
• Apply SEL values, operating principles, and world-class manufacturing principles.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant discipline.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience with electric power systems, industry practices, and automation.
• Knowledge of power-system protection and control, integration, automation, communications, system design, studies, and protective relay applications.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally at least 25% of the time.
• Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills, with the ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
• Satisfactory background check and negative drug test results.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer license or equivalent certification.
• Experience in electrical utilities, industrial plants, consulting engineering, or system integration.
• Project management experience and familiarity with Vision or similar project-tracking software.
