Senior Specialist, Packaging & AVI Engineer (AI)

Location: 100% onsite at the hirify.global Melbourne site, Australia; not eligible for remote work

What you will do

• Serve as the Melbourne site subject matter expert for Automated Vision Inspection and Packing systems, including sterilization equipment.
• Lead equipment and systems through design, procurement, FAT, installation, commissioning, validation, qualification, and GMP production support.
• Review and approve URS, functional descriptions, engineering drawings, vendor documentation, and Engineering Turnover Packages.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, software, and equipment-performance issues with Operations, Quality, EHS, Digital, and Validation teams.
• Support new-product implementations, format changes, preventive maintenance, change controls, CAPAs, deviations, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
• Develop the technical roadmap for vision technologies, including AI and Generative AI-enabled tools, and guide vendors and contractors across complex assignments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or a related engineering discipline.
• At least six years of relevant experience supporting highly automated production equipment.
• Experience with pharmaceutical vision and packing systems, PLC/HMI platforms, and SAP or similar ERP platforms.
• Knowledge of GMP environments, aseptic manufacturing, and sterile filling; four years of GMP experience is desirable.
• Strong technical writing, communication, presentation, structured problem-solving, root-cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action skills.
• Ability to manage multiple complex assignments with minimal direction and work full-time from the Melbourne site.

• Experience with basic statistical analysis techniques.
• Experience evaluating emerging vision technologies and advanced digital tools.
