Senior Full Stack Engineer (Auth)

Location: Melbourne or Sydney, Australia; hybrid office work required. Remote and hybrid setups are available, with the role expected to work from the Melbourne or Sydney office on a hybrid basis.

What you will do

• Build and ship signup, login, social authentication, account recovery, and multi-factor authentication experiences.
• Own session and token lifecycle services, revocation, rate limiting, and APIs used by other engineering squads.
• Extend identity and access capabilities for business accounts and Workspaces, including the path toward SSO.
• Partner with Product and Security to balance authentication security, user experience, and login conversion.
• Improve instrumentation, alerting, and dashboards so authentication failures are detected early.
• Use AI-assisted development for migrations, tests, and investigations while mentoring engineers through reviews, pairing, and documentation.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally in authentication, identity, platform, or payments-related environments.
• Full-stack experience with TypeScript, Node, React, GraphQL, PostgreSQL or MySQL, and AWS.
• Working knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWTs, session management, MFA, and common authentication attack classes.
• Experience safely shipping changes to high-traffic critical paths using feature flags, staged rollouts, migrations, and backward compatibility.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, Cursor, or Codex, including validating and refining generated output.
• Able to work from the Melbourne or Sydney office on a hybrid basis.
