Fire Alarm Design and Estimating Engineer (Fire Security)

Location: Remote from Metro Manila, Philippines; working hours follow UK business hours and UK public holidays.

Salary: PHP 60,000–70,000 per month

What you will do

• Design compliant fire alarm layouts and specify equipment using architectural drawings and site survey information.
• Review floor plans, photos, videos, survey notes, and inspection logs to define spatial constraints and installation scopes.
• Calculate device quantities, cable runs, power supplies, labor requirements, project costs, and target margins.
• Prepare itemized material lists and formal client quotations, including opportunities for system upgrades and integrated security solutions.
• Maintain supplier pricing and coordinate with vendors, installation engineers, project teams, and client representatives.
• Provide technical guidance to Service and Operations teams while ensuring compliance with relevant British Standards.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of dedicated experience designing fire alarm systems.
• Experience in estimating, technical desktop surveying, or design within the fire and security sector.
• Strong knowledge of fire detection systems, with familiarity with intruder alarms, IP CCTV, and access control.
• Ability to read scale architectural drawings and schematic diagrams and take digital measurements.
• Understanding of British Standards, particularly BS 5839, as well as BS 5266, BS 7858, EN 50131, and PD 6662.
• Ability to calculate unit margins, project costs, and accurate formal quotations.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience as an installation or service engineer.
• Experience with CAD or PDF markup tools such as Bluebeam for digital takeoffs.
• Familiarity with fire and security brands including Texecom, Hikvision, Paxton, C-TEC, Ajax, EMS Smartcell, and Pyronix.
