Senior Electrical Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Redwood City, California, United States. On-site role with occasional travel for prototype builds, manufacturing activities, supplier engagement, and engineering validation.

Salary: $175,578–$211,131 per year.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and validate electrical circuits, PCBs, harnesses, and subsystem architectures for autonomous robotic platforms.
• Own electrical subsystem development from concept and prototyping through validation, production release, and lifecycle support.
• Lead hardware bring-up, debugging, characterization, verification, and root-cause analysis with firmware and software teams.
• Develop test plans, validation procedures, and performance metrics focused on subsystem reliability and quality.
• Collaborate with mechanical, systems, test, manufacturing, supplier, and operations teams on integration and production readiness.
• Support prototype builds, factory activities, engineering investigations, field issue resolution, documentation, design reviews, and mentoring.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of experience designing and testing electrical systems for robotics, consumer electronics, automotive, aerospace, or other electromechanical products.
• Strong experience with schematic design, PCB development, subsystem integration, and electrical system validation.
• Hands-on experience using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, electronic loads, function generators, and other laboratory equipment.
• Experience with embedded systems development, hardware bring-up, debugging, failure analysis, and industry-standard ECAD tools, preferably Altium.
• Experience with CAN, SPI, UART, I2C, USB, and cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, and supplier collaboration.

Nice to have

• Experience with DC-DC power systems, power distribution architectures, high-speed circuit design, and signal integrity analysis.
• Experience developing test automation with Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
• Experience with EMC/EMI compliance testing, Nvidia Jetson, embedded compute, sensors, cameras, LiDAR, motors, batteries, thermal systems, or cellular networking.
• Experience with cable harness design, production ramp activities, overseas manufacturing partners, or complex electromechanical industries.
