Test Engineer 2 (R&D) (Nuclear)

Location: United States; remote work is available within the contiguous United States. Employees living within 30 miles of a NuScale office must work onsite 4 days per week; employees farther away may work remotely and travel as required for business needs.

Salary: $90,480–$109,200 annual target pay range; full range $82,000–$127,000 annually.

What you will do

• Plan, develop, and execute proof-of-concept, component, performance, functional, compliance, reliability, and environmental qualification test programs.
• Review test plans and specifications, approve supplier procedures, oversee test execution, and accept test data.
• Manage small test projects through supplier evaluation, contracting, design, implementation, reporting, data acceptance, and closeout.
• Prepare budgets, schedules, resource requirements, statements of work, requests for quotes, test specifications, and test reports.
• Lead reviews of drawings, schematics, procedures, results, reports, documentation, and test hardware designs.
• Analyze test data and support validation activities for reactor structures, systems, components, and instrumentation.

Requirements

• B.S. degree in Materials Science, Mechanical, Nuclear, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
• At least 2 years of experience developing, executing, or managing testing programs for fluid, mechanical, or electromechanical hardware or devices.
• Must be eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
• Ability to understand and communicate clearly, learn new concepts quickly, and work accurately in a changing environment.
• Ability to travel nationally and locally.
• Commitment to quality assurance regulations and standards, including 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1.

Nice to have

• Advanced engineering degree.
• Knowledge of refractory metals and applications above 800°C.
• Materials science work or training background.
