Design Application Engineer (Semiconductor Design Enablement)

What you will do

• Lead technical execution for assigned customers, applications, technology platforms, and engineering workstreams.
• Drive customer design enablement capabilities with internal development and support teams.
• Resolve complex customer and engineering issues through root-cause analysis, risk assessment, and corrective actions.
• Coordinate technical solutions across PDK, modeling, IP, EDA, reliability, product engineering, quality, sales, and customer organizations.
• Improve reusable design flows, engineering standards, automation, case management, and support infrastructure.
• Manage project scope, deliverables, milestones, risks, technical reviews, documentation, training, and knowledge sharing through tape-out readiness.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline with 4+ years of relevant experience; or a master’s degree with 2+ years; or a PhD with 1+ years.
• Expertise in one or more Application Engineering areas, including IC design methodology, EDA tools, or design enablement.
• Ability to independently solve complex technical problems and develop customer-focused solutions.
• Experience contributing to or leading projects from initiation through completion.
• Strong collaboration, cross-functional teamwork, technical guidance, and problem-solving skills.
• Applicants must be based in the United States, with the role listed as offsite in California.

Nice to have

• Expertise across multiple semiconductor design enablement disciplines.
• Familiarity with semiconductor design flows, PDKs, EDA tools, and customer support environments.
• Experience mentoring engineers and transferring technical knowledge.
• Strong customer advocacy, relationship management, and cross-functional influence.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Dynamics, Microsoft Copilot, and related collaboration tools.
