Tech Communications Lead (AI)

Location: San Francisco, New York, Portland, or remote within Canada or the United States

Base salary: $158,200–$197,800 USD for employees in New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, or the San Francisco Bay Area; $142,400–$178,000 USD for other US locations; $149,500–$186,900 CAD for Canadian employees.

What you will do

• Develop and own Mercury’s technology, AI, and innovation narrative for founders, entrepreneurs, SMBs, and the broader technology community.
• Partner with the co-founder and senior product and AI leaders on messaging, thought leadership, bylines, social presence, and briefing materials.
• Build and run integrated communications programs across podcasts, speaking opportunities, events, owned content, social media, and press.
• Lead communications for product and AI launches in partnership with product marketing.
• Identify media, podcast, conference, and creator opportunities and cultivate relationships with relevant journalists and hosts.
• Create and edit content, coach spokespeople, monitor the AI and fintech landscape, and measure communications performance.

Requirements

• 7–10 years of communications experience, including significant work in technology, product, or AI storytelling at a high-growth startup or technology company.
• Hands-on, fluent use of AI tools for research, workflow automation, content creation, and experimentation.
• Experience building executive and founder thought leadership programs across podcasts, speaking, and social media.
• Ability to explain technical concepts such as AI products and infrastructure clearly and accurately.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills, strong media relationships, and comfort working directly with founders and senior leaders.
• Builder mindset with experience creating communications programs from scratch in a fast-moving environment.
