Senior Embedded Software Engineering Manager – Application Software

Base pay for Colorado applicants: $181,144.00–$253,601.25 per year.

What you will do

• Lead embedded software engineers developing mission-critical application software for national security programs.
• Contribute hands-on to the technical design, implementation, code review, and debugging of embedded software systems for approximately 50% of the role.
• Set technical direction and establish software development lifecycle processes aligned with national security requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate software with hardware and meet performance requirements.
• Manage project schedules, resource allocation, technical risks, software quality, reliability, and maintainability.
• Mentor engineers and dedicate approximately 50% of the role to people leadership and team development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of embedded software development experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Current hands-on proficiency in embedded software development practices and tools, including C/C++ programming.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for leading technical discussions.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, current U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee.
• A standard background check is required; additional checks may apply for certain job profiles.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of aerospace or defense embedded software development experience.
• Experience with NASA or Space Force standards, embedded cybersecurity, GNC algorithms, or FMSA.
• Experience balancing hands-on technical contributions with leadership responsibilities.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum in mission-critical environments.
