Principal Systems Engineer - Embedded Software Engineer (Defense)

Salary: $130,000–$210,000 per year

What you will do

• Manage, audit, and validate embedded software for DoD missile systems.
• Evaluate the impact of software changes on hardware systems in collaboration with hardware engineers.
• Oversee change control boards, engineering reviews, and qualification of design changes.
• Apply systems engineering principles, agile development practices, and project management methods to missile systems development.
• Support engineering compliance and process management for embedded and real-time software.
• Travel up to 25% for mission-critical projects.

Requirements

• Active Top-Secret clearance
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience
• At least 5 years of experience in software design, development, testing, and process management.
• Experience with embedded or real-time software, software management and auditing, change control, and engineering design.
• Proficiency in C++ and Python.
• Understanding of agile development, project management, and DoD or military projects.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of AEGIS combat systems, Standard Missile, or Navy weapon systems.
• 20+ years of relevant experience.
• Graduate degree.
