Director, Private Markets Accounting (Private Equity)

Location: Hybrid in New York City, NY or Union, NJ, United States

Base salary: $115,000–$210,000 per year, depending on location, experience, education, skills, and performance.

What you will do

• Manage multiple alternative investment fund relationships, client deliverables, timelines, and service expectations.
• Oversee accounting operations for private equity funds, including capital activity, investment activity, accruals, valuations, and management fees.
• Review fund, offering, subscription, side-letter, and investment management documents to apply fund terms correctly.
• Review investor allocations, capital account statements, capital calls, distributions, investor notices, and distribution waterfall models.
• Prepare and review financial statements, disclosures, supporting schedules, and work papers.
• Manage year-end audits and lead staff development, performance management, hiring, and termination decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• 15+ years of accounting experience focused on alternative investment funds, with private equity experience preferred.
• 5+ years of experience supervising at least two professional staff members.
• Hands-on leadership, project management, multitasking, client service, and communication skills.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Ability to work in the New York City or Union, NJ hybrid locations.
