Sr Manager, Systems Engineering

Location: Carlsbad, California, United States. US citizenship and an active DoD Secret clearance are required. Travel up to 10%.

Salary: $177,500–$280,000 annually. For specific locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $220,500–$330,500 annually.

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end integration of AWS GovCloud, SD-WAN, MPLS, next-generation firewall, and cryptographic subsystems into the Tactical Mission Fabric platform.
• Author Terraform modules and Ansible AWX playbooks, with changes managed through GitLab CI/CD and peer review.
• Design and operate multi-account AWS architectures supporting multi-tenant isolation.
• Own SD-WAN, BGP, EVPN/VXLAN, IPsec, firewall high availability, and related network integrations.
• Run V-Model deliverables, including SRR, PDR, CDR, requirements traceability, and verification and validation.
• Lead security, compliance, integration-risk, mentoring, technical-review, and cross-functional systems engineering activities.

Requirements

• Hands-on Terraform module authoring and production-scale GitOps practices.
• Hands-on AWS experience with VPC, IAM, security groups, EC2, S3, and multi-account patterns.
• Deep networking expertise in TCP/IP, BGP, EVPN, OSPF, IPsec, and SD-WAN overlay design.
• Experience with V-Model lifecycle activities on government contract deliverables.
• 8+ years of systems engineering or systems integration experience in defense, federal, SATCOM, or telecom environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, telecommunications, or a related technical field; US citizenship and an active DoD Secret clearance required.

Nice to have

• AWS multi-account architecture at scale, AWS GovCloud, Ansible/AWX, and GitLab CI/CD experience.
• Experience with Cisco Viptela, Juniper SSR, hirify.global NetAgility, Cisco, Junos, or Palo Alto networking platforms.
• MBSE tools, FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171, STIG, CIS hardening, and DevSecOps experience.
• DoD 8140/8570 IASAE Level II certification, TS/SCI clearance, SATCOM integration, or edge-cloud architecture experience.
