Senior AI Systems Engineer (Large Language Models & MLOps)

Location: Lisbon, Portugal — hybrid work model. Candidates must have an existing legal right to work in the European Union.

What you will do

• Design and deploy scalable, production-ready AI systems, including agentic AI systems, RAG pipelines, multi-step agents, and LLM workflows.
• Contribute to end-to-end solution architecture from model selection through API deployment, orchestration, and monitoring.
• Implement MLOps, LLMOps, and AgentOps practices, including CI/CD, prompt versioning, and model registry management.
• Build monitoring and observability frameworks covering model drift, latency, cost, and output quality.
• Apply AI Security by Design principles, including protection against prompt injection, traceability, and auditability.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists to industrialize AI models, systemize deployment workflows, and document technical solutions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering or AI, including at least 2 years deploying LLM or AI systems to production.
• Proven experience delivering operational AI systems rather than only proofs of concept.
• Strong Python expertise with LangChain, Transformers, and FastAPI.
• Experience with AWS or GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
• Deep understanding of MLOps, LLMOps, and AI Security by Design principles.
• Fluent English and French at C1 level; existing legal right to work in the European Union required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of regulated financial environments and security standards.
• Experience with GCP, JavaScript or TypeScript, or advanced research paper analysis.
