Systems Engineer, DNS

Location: Hybrid in Austin, Texas; an in-person interview at a hirify.global office or hub may be required at the offer stage.

hirify.global operates a global network and security platform that protects and accelerates Internet applications, including large-scale authoritative DNS and public recursive resolver services.

What you will do

• Maintain and expand DNS infrastructure and implement customer-facing features.
• Own medium-to-large projects from initial design through completion with limited supervision.
• Write maintainable, well-tested production code and improve system architecture and resilience.
• Debug complex service issues and lead refactoring, re-architecting, rollout, monitoring, on-call, and follow-up work.
• Collaborate with Product and stakeholders on product requirements and technical decisions.
• Mentor and onboard junior engineers through code and design reviews.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong systems programming fundamentals, including performance, concurrency, and networking.
• Production programming experience in Rust or Go, or the ability to quickly learn a comparable language.
• Ability to reason about failure modes, measure before optimizing, and drive projects to completion.
• Willingness to own operational responsibilities beyond coding, including rollout, monitoring, and on-call.
• Ability to work in the hybrid Austin, Texas location.

Nice to have

• DNS, DNSSEC, and DNS security extension knowledge.
• Experience with HTTP, TLS, CDN networks, or large-scale high-performance services.
• Technical documentation, talks, open-source contributions, or experience leading technical discussions.
• Experience interviewing technical candidates and providing feedback.
