Generator Modeling Engineer (Renewable Energy)

Location: Remote within the United States; listed locations include Louisville, Colorado, New York, New York, Arlington, Virginia, and Salt Lake City, Utah. Minimal travel is expected.

Salary: $94,000–$112,625 per year, plus annual bonus.

What you will do

• Prepare, review, and submit generator models for renewable resources during interconnection studies, construction, and operations.
• Develop models for interconnection request packages, as-built submissions, ISO requirements, and NERC requirements.
• Ensure models satisfy ride-through, reactive power, and technical modeling requirements.
• Gather and validate data from manufacturers, contractors, consultants, plant controllers, substations, and generator equipment.
• Respond to Transmission Planner and Planning Coordinator modeling requests and concerns.
• Oversee field validation tests and guide projects through MOD-025, MOD-026, MOD-027, MOD-032, and PRC-024 compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• 1–5 years of experience with PSSE, PowerWorld, and/or PSLF modeling software.
• Experience with interconnection study models and interconnection request packages.
• Knowledge of generator modeling, model validation, short-circuit data, MOD standards, and PRC-024.
• Ability to analyze complex information and prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations.
• Ability to work remotely and independently within the United States for extended periods.

• Experience modeling renewable generators.
• Experience with ride-through tests, stability tests, and model validation.
