FP&A Manager (R&D)

Location: Hybrid in Irvine, CA; Austin, TX; San Francisco Bay Area, CA; Denver, CO; or Akron, Ohio. Onsite work is expected every Tuesday and Wednesday.

What you will do

• Partner with Engineering, Product, and DevOps leadership on planning, budgeting, forecasting, and capital allocation.
• Build R&D headcount, operating expense, scenario, sensitivity, and financial models.
• Analyze monthly budget-to-actual performance, forecast variances, hosting costs, and optimization opportunities.
• Forecast and manage AWS and Azure costs, including usage, commitments, capacity, contracts, and savings initiatives.
• Own SaaS COGS and unit economics models covering infrastructure, third-party services, support, customers, locations, and transactions.
• Prepare business cases, dashboards, management analyses, and executive- and board-level reporting on margins, R&D efficiency, and investment impact.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in FP&A, finance, business analysis, or a related field, including support for R&D, Engineering, or Product organizations.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Advanced Excel modeling skills and experience preparing executive-level presentations.
• Experience with financial planning, ERP, CRM, and spend management systems; familiarity with Aleph, Sage Intacct, Salesforce, or Ramp is relevant.
• Knowledge of the SaaS/software industry, cloud infrastructure billing, cost management, and FinOps concepts.
• Ability to translate technical concepts into financial analysis and use AI tools such as Claude or ChatGPT to develop and validate complex financial models.
