Technical Business Development Manager (AI)

Location: In-person in San Francisco, California; requires regular time with founders and investors in the Bay Area.

Salary: $118,900–$163,450 USD per year, plus potential annual performance bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Run the startup program, including applicant intake, evaluation, scoring, routing, offer decisions, and outcome tracking.
• Build and maintain AI-powered automation and internal tooling using Databricks tools such as Omnigent, Unity Gateway, and Agent Bricks.
• Hold technical conversations with early-stage founders about models, agents, data, automation, and the fit of Databricks and Neon.
• Assess founders' technical capabilities and ideas, then communicate insights to Product and Databricks Ventures.
• Design and run founder and investor events in San Francisco, including dinners, workshops, office hours, and demo-day activities.
• Develop relationships with venture-firm events and platform teams and grow into broader ownership of the startup ecosystem function.

Requirements

• Hands-on proficiency with AI automation tools and the ability to prototype automations and reason about agent architecture.
• Experience operating complex, multi-track programs with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
• Ability to explain and teach technical concepts clearly and build credibility with developers and founders.
• Comfort working with early-stage founders, investors, technical work, operational execution, and strategy.
• Experience helping design and run events.
• Must be based in San Francisco and available for regular in-person work in the Bay Area.

Nice to have

• Background as a founder, early engineer, forward-deployed engineer, or solutions engineer.
• Experience in B2B SaaS, AI and data infrastructure, or developer ecosystems.
