Intern - Manufacturing Engineer (Fusion Energy)

Location: On-site in Devens, Massachusetts, United States. Occasional nights, weekends, on-call work, and travel may be required. Interns are responsible for their own transportation and housing.

Salary: $25–$38 per hour, depending on the current year of study. BS interns: $25–$32 per hour; MS/PhD interns: $35–$38 per hour.

What you will do

• Develop, implement, and qualify manufacturing processes.
• Design and update tooling, fixtures, and jigs using CAD software.
• Create and maintain work instructions, flow sequences, and standard operating procedures.
• Improve manufacturing standardization, safety, quality, documentation, and delivery execution.
• Resolve production blockers and help the team meet output targets.

Requirements

• Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
• Currently pursuing an engineering degree in mechanical, electrical, aerospace, manufacturing, or industrial engineering, from bachelor’s level through PhD.
• CAD design experience and familiarity with hand tools.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment or hands-on experience through research, project teams, machine shops, hackathons, or internships.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, self-motivation, and execution skills.
• Must be able to work on-site and perform extended periods of typing, standing, or sitting while following industrial safety requirements.

Nice to have

• Machine shop experience.
• Experience working with industrial hazards such as heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead, high voltage, or cryogenics.
