SW Engineer (AI/ML)

Location: US - Austin, TX; must be based in Austin or the Greater Austin metropolitan area. This is a hybrid position with office attendance determined by the Hiring Manager. The role requires 5–10% travel and is performed in an office setting.

Salary: $86,500–$134,400 USD per year, with potential bonus and equity eligibility.

What you will do

• Analyze, design, program, debug, and modify commercial or end-user applications.
• Write code, complete programming tasks, and test and troubleshoot software.
• Build and support production APIs and cloud-native containerized applications.
• Integrate LLM APIs, RAG architectures, prompt engineering, and agentic AI patterns.
• Prepare installation, maintenance, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with users and stakeholders to define system requirements, estimates, budgets, and schedules.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or 3+ years of relevant work experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java or Python, including async/await patterns, type hints, Pydantic v2, and orjson.
• Hands-on experience with LangChain, RAG architectures, LLM API integration, prompt engineering, and agentic AI patterns.
• Experience with intent classification and NLP pipelines.
• Must be based in Austin, Texas, or the Greater Austin metropolitan area.
• Ability to work in a hybrid office setting and travel 5–10% of the time.

Nice to have

• Experience with FastAPI, Pydantic validation, OAuth2, API keys, mTLS, and streaming responses.
• Knowledge of Model Context Protocol, JSON-RPC 2.0, REST APIs, Server-Sent Events, and agent-to-agent communication.
• Experience developing and deploying cloud-native containerized applications.
• Experience with technical documentation, software troubleshooting, requirements gathering, and maintenance procedures.
