Photonic Architect, Temp (Optical Communications)

Location: Toronto, ON, Canada; flexible hybrid workplace model.

Salary range: $53–$70 CAD; total compensation may also include equity and other rewards.

What you will do

• Contribute to the Passage transceiver product architecture team with a focus on photonic architecture.
• Analyze interactions between photonic effects and the performance of SerDes, drivers, and TIAs.
• Develop solutions to maintain low error rates as optical communication throughput and density increase.
• Simulate end-to-end optical links, including fiber polarization, optical reflections, and thermal dynamics in silicon photonic structures.
• Collaborate with the test team on remote testing of SerDes, high-speed analog, and photonic hardware.
• Define test plans and correlate experimental results with simulation data.

Requirements

• Pursuing a PhD in Photonics, Optics, or Electrical Engineering with a specialization in optical communications.
• Experience with optical link simulation tools such as VPIphotonics, Matlab, Virtuoso, or ADS.
• Experience with Python programming, data collection, and data analysis.
• Coursework in electromagnetics, semiconductor devices and physics, optics, scientific computing, numerical methods, signals and systems, statistics, thermal physics, and analog electronics.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to comply with federally mandated U.S. export control requirements.
