Staff RF Engineer (RF/Microwave)

Location: On-site in Seattle, Washington, United States

Salary: $185,000–$275,000 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular employees.

What you will do

• Own RF and microwave module designs from requirements and architecture through schematic capture, layout, bring-up, verification, qualification, and production release.
• Design active and passive RF circuits, including amplifiers, filters, multiplexers, switches, limiters, couplers, attenuators, detectors, and frequency-conversion stages.
• Develop RF front-end assemblies meeting gain, noise figure, output power, linearity, efficiency, stability, isolation, and out-of-band rejection requirements.
• Perform circuit and electromagnetic analysis and correlate simulation models with measured hardware performance.
• Create and review RF and mixed-signal PCB designs, including controlled-impedance routing, grounding, shielding, stack-up, power distribution, and component placement.
• Plan laboratory characterization, diagnose difficult hardware issues, and support environmental qualification, integration, ground testing, flight testing, production test, and technical documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Hands-on experience taking RF or microwave circuits, modules, or PCB assemblies through fabrication, bring-up, debugging, and measured verification.
• Strong knowledge of S-parameters, impedance matching, transmission lines, stability, gain, noise figure, linearity, compression, isolation, and cascaded RF performance.
• Experience with RF PCB layout, controlled impedance, grounding, shielding, component placement, signal integrity, laboratory instruments, and calibration methods.
• Ability to use simulations and measured data to make design decisions, document tradeoffs, and close requirements with objective evidence.
• Ability to work on-site in a laboratory and hardware-development environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with RF front ends for airborne, defense, space, robotics, or other high-reliability systems.
• Experience with GaN or GaAs amplifiers, MMICs, LNAs, switches, limiters, frequency converters, or high-selectivity filters.
• Experience with Altium Designer, ADS, AWR, HFSS, CST, thermal design, RF packaging, EMI/EMC qualification, or design for manufacturability and test.
• Experience developing automated characterization or data-analysis tools with Python, MATLAB, or similar technologies.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance, including S/SAR access, if required by the program.
