Legal Analyst (Bankruptcy and Restructuring)

Location: New York, New York, United States; occasional travel for court hearings and industry events may be required.

Salary: $200,000–$250,000 annually plus an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Monitor distressed situations across the industry and own coverage of a subset of bankruptcy cases.
• Report case developments quickly and in accordance with the company style guide.
• Prepare long-form analysis of legal and industry developments and trends.
• Collaborate with financial analysts and reporters on case coverage.
• Engage with lawyer and investment professional subscribers.
• Represent hirify.global in webinars, conferences, and other industry events.

Requirements

• JD with a strong academic record.
• Comprehensive understanding of bankruptcy law and at least 4 years of experience involving large Chapter 11 cases.
• Experience with large corporate restructurings in the United States.
• Ability to travel occasionally for court hearings and industry events.
• Proactive, self-directed working style with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and interact with people from varied professional backgrounds.

Nice to have

• Experience negotiating out-of-court restructurings.
• Experience analyzing debt instruments, including indentures and intercreditor agreements.
• Clerkship experience with a bankruptcy judge, particularly in the Southern District of New York, Delaware, or the Southern District of Texas.
• Based in New York City or the surrounding area.
