Azure Cloud Architect

Location: Remote, based in the Greater Toronto Area, Ontario, Canada

Salary: $175,000–$190,000 CAD per year

What you will do

• Design and implement secure, scalable, highly available Azure solutions aligned with the Azure Well-Architected Framework.
• Lead and mentor engineering and DevOps teams on cloud infrastructure, application deployments, and implementation decisions.
• Develop infrastructure-as-code and policy-as-code automation using Terraform and Bicep.
• Design CI/CD pipelines and deployment practices across development, QA, staging, and production environments.
• Partner with Infrastructure, Security, Software Development, QA, and Operations teams to validate application changes and deliver production-ready designs.
• Build cloud implementation roadmaps and improve security, governance, compliance, reliability, and cost efficiency.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience designing, implementing, and managing Azure cloud architectures.
• Deep knowledge of Azure services, including virtual machines, storage, Entra/Azure AD, VNet/vWAN, Azure Firewall, Functions, Sentinel, Monitor, and Azure security practices.
• Strong infrastructure-as-code experience, especially with Terraform, ARM templates, and Bicep.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, Bash, and PowerShell.
• Experience with DevOps automation tools, application deployment across multiple environments, and cloud security best practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification.
• Experience with AWS, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Docker, or application observability tools.
• Experience in regulated industries and with SOC 2 compliance requirements.
• Awareness of on-premises virtualization technologies such as Hyper-V and VMware.
