Director and Assistant General Counsel, Global Privacy, AI and Cybersecurity

Location: On-site at the hirify.global Center in Maplewood, Minnesota, at least four days per week. Travel may include up to 10% domestic and international travel. Relocation may be authorized.

Expected compensation: $250,253–$305,864, including base pay and variable incentive pay if eligible.

What you will do

• Provide global legal advice to IT, cybersecurity, technology, privacy, data protection, and business stakeholders.
• Develop and enhance AI governance frameworks covering policies, controls, risk assessments, escalation, oversight, and responsible AI use.
• Advise on cloud environments, AI and machine learning adoption, ERP modernization, cloud migrations, digital platforms, and enterprise technology transformations.
• Support privacy and data protection programs, including privacy by design, impact assessments, data processing agreements, cross-border transfers, data subject rights, and records of processing.
• Advise on cybersecurity incident response, regulatory notifications, security governance, vulnerability management, third-party risk, technology contracts, and supplier diligence.
• Lead and mentor a global legal team while coordinating with regional counsel, outside counsel, compliance, audit, risk, and government affairs stakeholders.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree or higher, completed and verified before starting.
• At least 10 years of legal counsel experience in a private, public, government, or military environment.
• Membership in at least one U.S. state bar in good standing.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employment visa sponsorship.
• Ability to work on-site in Maplewood, Minnesota at least four days per week.
• Experience with legal and regulatory matters involving privacy, data protection, AI, cybersecurity, technology governance, or enterprise systems.

Nice to have

• In-house experience at a Fortune 500, multinational, or technology-intensive company.
• Experience with responsible AI, generative AI, machine learning, model risk, algorithmic accountability, and AI lifecycle controls.
• Experience with ERP transformations, cloud migrations, cybersecurity incident response, product security, or enterprise technology transactions.
• Familiarity with GDPR, UK GDPR, China PIPL, Brazil LGPD, U.S. state privacy laws, HIPAA, NIST frameworks, ISO 27001, and the EU AI Act.
• Certifications such as CIPP, CIPM, CIPT, AIGP, or CISSP.
