Staff Software Engineer (Web)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, United States — Crossman Respect Building home office

Annual salary: $143,000–$286,000, plus performance bonuses and possible stock compensation.

What you will do

• Analyze functional and non-functional requirements and align technical solutions with business objectives.
• Design scalable, modular architectures using distributed systems, disaster recovery, and cloud-native principles.
• Develop web applications, functional modules, and shareable widgets across modern frontend platforms.
• Lead coding efforts while maintaining security, quality, coding, and maintainability standards.
• Drive automated testing for functionality, performance, and security, including CI/CD and program-health monitoring.
• Perform root-cause analysis, resolve defects, and mentor and influence engineers across the organization.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software development experience specializing in frontend websites and shareable widgets.
• Experience integrating REST and GraphQL backend services and working with large codebases and large-scale projects.
• Strong knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Vue, Angular, Next.js, React Router, Redux, Node.js, and GraphQL.
• Experience with software architecture, distributed systems, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, debugging, and production support.
• Experience with Azure, Google Cloud Platform, CI/CD, secure software development, telemetry, and software development lifecycle practices.
• Bachelor’s degree with 4 years of relevant experience, or 6 years of relevant software engineering experience.

Nice to have

• Experience building video and multimedia applications.
• Master’s degree in a relevant computer science or engineering field.
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility practices.
