Principal Technical Architect (Public Sector)

Location: Any UK office hub: Bristol, London, Manchester, or Swansea. Part-time remote working is available for staff. Candidates must be eligible for SC security clearance, which requires five years of UK residency and employment history or full-time education.

Salary: £93,800–£115,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead strategically significant and complex client engagements across technical architecture, cybersecurity, and wider digital delivery.
• Collaborate with senior public-sector stakeholders to understand challenges, provide solution advice, and shape client solutions.
• Assess delivery performance, quality-assure deliverables, and ensure strong client outcomes and satisfaction.
• Coach, mentor, and manage multidisciplinary consultants, including performance reviews and professional development.
• Act as a technical authority, capture delivery experience, and improve internal and industry best practices.
• Lead bids, pre-sales, business development, and practice capability development across accounts and industries.

Requirements

• Proven experience designing software systems and delivering complex, user-facing digital and data services in the public sector.
• Previous software engineering experience, including delivering production code as part of a development team.
• Expert-level knowledge of AWS, Azure, GCP, multi-cloud configurations, enterprise architecture, networking, security protocols, and well-architected frameworks.
• Experience leading consulting teams, solution shaping, bids, client delivery, supplier partnerships, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Knowledge of UK public-sector technology guidance, including the NCSC Cyber Assessment Framework and Technology Code of Practice.
• Eligibility for SC clearance: five years of UK residency and employment history or full-time education, ideally with no more than 30 consecutive days outside the UK during the last five years.

• Relevant expert- or practitioner-level certifications.
• Experience working directly with cloud vendors or through vendor partner programmes such as AWS APN and Azure Partners.
• A recognised technical-advisor track record across multiple industries.
