Infrastructure Platform Architect (Cloud)

Location: Farnborough, United Kingdom; onsite 5 days per week. Candidates must have the right to work in the United Kingdom and meet applicable UK Government and contractual personnel security, residency, and potentially nationality requirements.

What you will do

• Design enterprise infrastructure architectures across compute, storage, networking, virtualisation, and hybrid cloud platforms.
• Develop cloud strategies, infrastructure roadmaps, design patterns, standards, and governance frameworks.
• Lead implementation of AWS, Azure, or private cloud platforms, including virtualisation, containerisation, orchestration, and high-availability solutions.
• Guide infrastructure modernisation programmes, legacy migrations, technology refreshes, disaster recovery, and business continuity architecture.
• Lead technical teams, architecture reviews, design boards, and technical mentoring.
• Engage with senior customer stakeholders and defence programme teams, presenting recommendations and facilitating design workshops.

Requirements

• Extensive IT infrastructure experience in an architecture role and a track record of designing enterprise-scale platforms.
• Strong cloud architecture experience with AWS, Azure, or equivalent, including scaling, hybrid infrastructure, and cost optimisation.
• Extensive experience with VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM virtualisation, storage, SAN/NAS, backup, and recovery technologies.
• Strong networking knowledge covering SDN, load balancing, segmentation, access controls, encryption, and network security architecture.
• Knowledge of containerisation, Kubernetes, microservices, disaster recovery, business continuity, and high-availability design.
• Must have the right to work in the United Kingdom and satisfy applicable UK Government, residency, security, and contractual requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience in defence, aerospace, or government IT environments.
• Knowledge of ITAR regulations, Classification Guides, and defence security standards.
• Experience leading infrastructure modernisation programmes and technology transformation.
