Senior Software Engineer (Performance Engineering)

Location: San Jose, California, USA

Compensation range: $234,840–$436,080 USD total target compensation, including base pay and a performance-based bonus.

What you will do

• Design and run performance, scalability, concurrency, soak, and latency tests for data connectors and high-scale ingestion pipelines.
• Build realistic dataset generators and tooling for automated profiling, trace capture, bottleneck analysis, and regression comparison.
• Debug Go services and the wider stack, including operating systems, networks, datastores, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure.
• Analyze production workloads and Prometheus and Kibana telemetry to identify bottlenecks and turn proofs of concept into product improvements.
• Implement performance fixes and features involving parallelism, pipelining, batching, back-pressure, and connection and memory reuse.
• Own customer-reported performance issues through root-cause analysis and resolution, and contribute to design reviews and sizing guidance.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience developing enterprise solutions in Go, C++, Java, or another high-level programming language.
• Experience with distributed systems and client-server architectures.
• Expertise in production-quality, scalable, multithreaded, and concurrent systems.
• Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and concurrency.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, AWS, and Azure, including resource, scheduling, networking, and API-limit diagnostics.

Nice to have

• Experience building data connectors or ingestion pipelines using REST, gRPC, CDC, Kafka, or similar technologies.
• Experience profiling and tuning production services, including eBPF-based or continuous profiling tools.
• Experience with databases or storage systems in public cloud environments.
