Senior AI-Native Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Dallas, Texas, United States — Two AT&T Plaza. Full-time onsite role performed from the designated work location five days per week. No relocation is offered.

Salary: $143,800–$215,800 USD annual.

AT&T provides telecommunications and digital services and is developing enterprise software platforms through its Billing Engineering organization.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable microservices, high-performance APIs, API gateways, event-driven architectures, messaging systems, and cloud-native services.
• Build integrations with relational and NoSQL databases while maintaining reliability, security, scalability, and clean architecture.
• Use Generative AI, LLMs, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Devin, and related agentic tools for code generation, testing, documentation, refactoring, and modernization.
• Create reusable prompt frameworks, engineering workflows, and automation scripts that improve software delivery and developer productivity.
• Lead adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices, review human- and AI-generated code, and coach engineers on prompt engineering and responsible AI use.
• Partner with product, architecture, and platform teams to improve CI/CD, automated testing, code quality analysis, pull request summarization, and deployment automation.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience developing and deploying enterprise applications and distributed systems.
• Strong proficiency in at least one backend stack: Java/Spring Boot, Python/FastAPI/Django, Go, or Node.js.
• Hands-on experience with microservices, APIs, cloud-native applications, and API architectures including REST, GraphQL, or gRPC.
• Professional experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, Claude, or Devin.
• Experience with testing frameworks, databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MongoDB, Git workflows, CI/CD, and event-driven messaging platforms such as Kafka or JMS.
• Ability to balance rapid innovation with enterprise-grade quality, security, governance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.

Nice to have

• Experience designing enterprise AI coding frameworks, prompt libraries, or developer productivity tooling.
• Experience modernizing legacy applications and monolithic platforms through AI-assisted refactoring.
• Knowledge of Agentic AI workflows and autonomous engineering tools.
• Contributions to open-source projects, developer tools, internal platforms, or software productivity initiatives.
• Experience building AI-enhanced software development workflows at scale.
