Cloud Operations Engineer (Azure)

Location: Remote from South Africa, based in the South Africa team; working hours aligned with US Eastern Time (ET)

What you will do

• Operate and maintain Azure production environments for high availability, performance, and stability.
• Act as an L4 escalation point for complex incidents across compute, networking, storage, identity, and AKS.
• Maintain and troubleshoot Terraform-managed infrastructure in production.
• Operate and troubleshoot AKS clusters and workloads, including scaling, networking, ingress, and performance.
• Participate in the Cloud Operations on-call rotation for critical production incidents.
• Improve reliability through SRE practices, automation, documentation, alerting, and technical runbooks.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Cloud Operations, Platform Engineering, or SRE roles.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including virtual machines, networking, identity, storage, and monitoring.
• Production experience with Terraform and strong operational experience with Azure Kubernetes Service.
• Experience building automation with PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
• Experience troubleshooting distributed systems and distinguishing application, network, and provider-level issues.
• Experience optimizing Azure environments for reliability and cost efficiency, including use of Azure Monitor.
