Forensic Engineer (Structural and Mechanical)

Location: Fully remote with opportunities available nationwide in the United States; regional travel is required for inspections and client meetings. U.S. Persons Only due to ITAR export-control requirements.

Salary: $100,000–$150,000 per year

What you will do

• Conduct forensic investigations, accident reconstructions, and engineering evaluations of failures, defects, property damage, accidents, and other incidents.
• Perform site inspections and gather evidence and technical data for forensic analysis.
• Apply structural and mechanical engineering principles to determine cause, origin, extent, and responsibility.
• Prepare clear technical reports documenting findings, analyses, and conclusions.
• Communicate complex engineering opinions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Provide expert testimony in legal proceedings when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, civil, structural, or related engineering.
• Professional Engineer license strongly preferred, with the ability to obtain additional state licenses as needed.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, technical writing, organizational, and project management skills.
• Ability to explain complex engineering concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Willingness to travel regionally for inspections and investigations.
• Must qualify as a U.S. Person under applicable ITAR requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience working with insurance carriers, attorneys, contractors, or other stakeholders.
• Prior expert witness, deposition, or litigation support experience.
