Data Engineer (Web3)

Location: Hybrid in New York or San Francisco, United States, with remote work listed

Salary: $160,000–$175,000 per year, plus equity and bonus

What you will do

• Build and operate batch and streaming pipelines connecting operational databases, product events, billing systems, and external sources.
• Implement change-data capture, schema-change handling, idempotent processing, recoverable workflows, and safe backfills.
• Operate and improve Snowflake through access controls, workload management, query optimization, and cost management.
• Improve orchestration, deployment, testing, debugging, and data-quality workflows.
• Collaborate with analytics engineers and data scientists on shared data models, source definitions, documentation, and dataset ownership.
• Provide production support, respond to incidents, reconcile affected datasets, and eliminate recurring pipeline failures.

Requirements

• Experience independently building and operating production data pipelines and related infrastructure.
• Strong SQL and Python skills, including testing, debugging, and maintainable software design.
• Experience with Snowflake or a comparable data warehouse, including performance tuning and access management.
• Experience with workflow orchestration and transformation tools such as Airflow and dbt, or equivalent systems.
• Understanding of data modeling, incremental processing, schema evolution, and data-quality testing.
• Ability to trace data discrepancies from downstream reports to source systems and implement reliable fixes.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kafka, database replication, or change-data-capture systems.
• Experience with Apache Iceberg, Spark, Trino, or other lakehouse and query technologies.
• Knowledge of infrastructure as code, data observability, lineage, or disaster recovery.
• Experience with usage metering, billing and revenue data, or semantic layers for self-service analytics.
• Blockchain experience is not required.
