Senior Data Engineer (Gaming)

Location: San Francisco Bay Area; US based only

Salary: $220,500–$245,000 US base salary annually, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Own data models and production pipelines for a functional area from design through implementation and adoption.
• Build and maintain foundational datasets for analytics, machine learning, experimentation, dashboards, and reporting.
• Design architectures for massive and complex data while balancing usability, performance, and cost.
• Partner with data science, ML, and engineering teams to improve instrumentation coverage, accuracy, and reliability.
• Implement scalable data quality audits, alerting, anomaly detection, and performance improvements.
• Document solutions, enable adoption, and share knowledge with other engineers.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United States; the role is located in the San Francisco Bay Area.
• 4+ years of experience building and operating production data pipelines with high-volume consumer data.
• Strong data modeling skills across structured and unstructured sources.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python, with an emphasis on correct, performant, and maintainable code.
• Experience monitoring data quality on very large datasets, including billions of rows.
• Experience owning complex projects end to end, with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with BigQuery, Airflow, dbt, Looker, Tableau, or similar tools.
• Experience designing scalable data architectures for experimentation.
• Experience mentoring engineers or establishing data engineering standards.
• Passion for Discord or online communities.
