Senior Equipment Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: Manchester, United Kingdom. On-site role working a 4-on, 4-off day shift pattern from 7am to 7pm.

Salary: Starting base salary and shift allowance of £64,480+ per year, depending on experience, plus a bonus scheme of up to 6%.

What you will do

• Lead equipment maintenance programmes across Implant and Etch technologies.
• Diagnose complex equipment failures to component level, identify root causes, and complete repairs.
• Monitor, maintain, and optimize equipment performance, reliability, safety, and availability.
• Coach and mentor junior engineers in equipment maintenance and fault-finding techniques.
• Create and maintain procedures and documentation for equipment checks and maintenance.
• Lead equipment experiments, improvement actions, technical projects, and cross-shift repair support.

Requirements

• Ability to work the required 4-on, 4-off, 7am–7pm shift pattern.
• Degree, HNC, HND, or equivalent experience in a scientific or engineering discipline.
• Experience maintaining equipment in a light engineering or robotics environment.
• Strong electronic and mechanical principles, fault-finding, and component-level diagnostic skills.
• Proven delivery of technology or equipment improvements.
• Knowledge of tool FMEA, root cause analysis, and quality tools such as 4C and 8D, plus strong communication and training skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with specialized semiconductor equipment.
• Experience mentoring or managing less experienced engineers.
