Power Plant Technician A

Location: Vicinity Kendall, 265 1st St, Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States. Full-time hourly position with a rotating shift schedule.

Salary: $56.07–$67.42 per hour.

What you will do

• Operate, monitor, and respond to normal and abnormal conditions affecting power plant equipment and auxiliaries.
• Record equipment readings, operating data, problems, maintenance actions, and work requests.
• Perform water chemistry analysis, adjust chemical feeds, and operate and regenerate water treatment equipment.
• Inspect equipment, read meters and gauges, operate valves and circuit breakers up to 480 volts, and support mechanical and electrical isolation.
• Follow lockout/tagout, environmental permits, regulatory procedures, and facility safety programs.
• Assist other classifications when combined-cycle equipment and boilers are not operating, while maintaining assigned work areas.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Massachusetts Third Class Engineers License must be held and maintained.
• At least five years of experience operating gas turbines, high-pressure boilers, steam turbines, and heat recovery steam generators.
• Ability to work rotating shifts and perform moderately heavy physical work indoors and outdoors in all seasons.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, maneuver up to 100 pounds, work at heights and in confined spaces, tolerate high noise and temperature extremes, and wear required PPE and a respirator.
• Employment requires a company-provided pre-employment physical examination and drug screening.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of the relationship between plant operations and energy markets.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Ability to read and interpret P&ID drawings.
• Good safety record.
