Power Plant Stationary Engineer Full Time Days

Location: Palos Heights, Illinois, United States; onsite hospital position. Full-time day shift, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with availability for 2nd and 3rd shift vacation relief coverage.

Salary: $33.08–$44.60 per hour.

What you will do

• Troubleshoot, repair, fabricate, install, and maintain hospital utility equipment and systems.
• Operate and maintain boilers, feedwater treatment systems, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, compressors, vacuum systems, and medical gas systems.
• Operate and maintain domestic hot and cold water systems, emergency diesel generators, and fire pumps.
• Perform preventive maintenance, equipment rounds, meter readings, operating logs, and service-request documentation.
• Test water and steam chemistry, interpret results, and adjust chemical treatment systems.
• Respond to fire alarms, support maintenance and electrical staff, coordinate with contractors, and assist with snow and ice removal.

Requirements

• Valid City of Chicago Stationary Engineer License required.
• Thorough knowledge of steam generation and refrigeration principles.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license; additional certification or licensure may be required.
• 1–2 years of related experience; ability to work independently in a stressful environment and provide weekend, holiday, and shift coverage.
• Critical thinking, decisive judgment, problem-solving, and effective communication with patients, staff, medical personnel, visitors, and contractors.

Nice to have

• Technical training in a job-related field.
• Five years of relevant experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
