Manager II, Engineering - Datadog Agent SDLC

Location: Hybrid role based in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, or New York, New York, USA

Salary: $244,000–$305,000 USD per year, plus equity and potential variable compensation

What you will do

• Lead teams responsible for Datadog Agent developer experience, build systems, correctness, and performance benchmarking.
• Own software supply-chain security for the public Agent repository, including provenance, signing, dependency review, and contribution review.
• Evolve the software development lifecycle to support hundreds of contributors while improving developer velocity, reliability, and security.
• Drive AI coding enablement and adapt development workflows and infrastructure for coding-agent-assisted development.
• Guide build infrastructure for a complex, multi-language, multi-platform codebase, including modern build system adoption.
• Hire, mentor, and develop engineering managers and staff engineers across multiple geographies.

Requirements

• Experience owning software development lifecycle systems and developer infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding tools and workflows.
• Knowledge of deterministic simulation testing, fault injection, property-based testing, or continuous performance benchmarking.
• Experience with complex multi-language development environments, CI/CD, remote build execution, and caching.
• Experience leading multiple teams through technical and organizational change while balancing velocity, reliability, security, and long-term platform investments.
• Proven experience hiring, coaching, managing performance, and structuring engineering teams globally.

Nice to have

• Experience with Bazel or similar build systems.
