AWS Cloud Elastic Observability Engineer

Location: Fairfax, Virginia, United States; ability to work up to 3 days per week onsite in Fairfax, VA required.

Salary: $140,000–$165,000

What you will do

• Deploy, configure, and maintain Elastic Observability components, including Elastic Agent, Beats, Logstash, Kibana, and APM.
• Build and operate containerized Elastic environments with Docker, Compose, and configuration management tools.
• Deploy and manage Elastic components in Kubernetes using ECK, Helm, operators, or custom manifests.
• Maintain pipelines for logs, metrics, and traces across distributed systems and onboard new applications and services.
• Develop Kibana dashboards, visualizations, alerting rules, SLO/SLA visibility, and health monitoring.
• Troubleshoot ingestion, mapping, parsing, and data-quality issues while implementing ILM policies, retention standards, documentation, and operating procedures.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and an active Secret clearance are required.
• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of related experience.
• Active DoD 8140 IAT Level II Security+ certification or higher is required.
• Strong experience with Elastic Stack and Elastic Observability, including logging, metrics, and tracing.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, ECK, Helm, operators, automation, configuration management, Linux, and networking.
• Experience parsing and normalizing log data and building dashboards, alerts, SLO/SLA visibility, and monitoring coverage.

Nice to have

• Elastic Certified Engineer or Elastic Observability Engineer certification.
• Familiarity with Azure, GCP, or Oracle cloud platforms.
• Scripting experience with Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Experience with OpenTelemetry and SRE practices such as SLOs, error budgets, runbooks, and reliability engineering.
