SRE/DevOps Engineer (AWS)

Location: Remote for candidates residing in the United States or Canada and located within the Pacific or Mountain Time Zone. The role covers Pacific and Mountain hours and extends coverage into the Eastern evening; travel is less than 5%.

Salary: $110,000–$160,000 USD per year or $90,000–$140,000 CDN per year, depending on location and job-related factors.

What you will do

• Monitor production systems, respond to incidents, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate escalations and handoffs.
• Operate AWS infrastructure, including VPCs, security groups, VPN, DNS, TLS certificates, IAM, EC2, RDS, Lambda, and Fortigate firewalls.
• Support EKS clusters and Kubernetes workloads, including upgrades, scaling, deployments, ingress, storage, and Argo CD synchronization.
• Administer Okta integrations, provisioning, group-based access, and MFA troubleshooting.
• Maintain patching, vulnerability remediation, backup and restore procedures, security controls, and compliance evidence.
• Automate infrastructure and repetitive work with Terraform, Python, Bash, and CI/CD workflows while tracking AWS costs and maintaining runbooks.

Requirements

• Must reside in the United States or Canada and be located within the Pacific or Mountain Time Zone.
• At least 3 years of experience in SRE, DevOps, Linux, cloud systems administration, or a related role.
• Hands-on AWS experience with VPC networking, IAM, EC2, RDS, and Lambda.
• Proficiency in Linux administration, Python, Bash, Terraform, Kubernetes/EKS, Argo CD, Helm, GitLab CI/CD, and observability tooling such as Datadog.
• Hands-on Okta administration, including SAML/OIDC integrations, provisioning, and MFA; practical experience with least-privilege IAM, secrets, patching, and network segmentation.
• Solid TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, routing, firewall, and VPN knowledge, plus clear written communication and the ability to work independently across time zones.

Nice to have

• Experience with SOC 2, CJIS, or FedRAMP compliance.
• Experience with Active Directory, Azure AD/Entra ID, Ansible, Docker, PostgreSQL, or Redis.
• Experience using AI coding assistants for infrastructure and automation.
• Background in IT operations or security-focused teams, or certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CySA+, or AWS Certified Security – Specialty.
