Senior Backend Engineer (AI)

Location: Madrid, Spain; hybrid setup

Base salary: EUR 60,000–100,000 per year, plus potential performance-based rewards and benefits.

What you will do

• Design and develop reliable backend services, APIs, integrations, and automation.
• Work across multiple languages, platforms, and technologies while selecting solutions based on business and engineering needs.
• Strengthen engineering resilience, contingency capabilities, data integration, and transformation workloads.
• Build practical AI Agent and intelligent automation capabilities from experimentation through implementation.
• Develop and operate software using automated testing, CI/CD, containerization, observability, and cloud deployment.
• Provide technical design input, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to reusable engineering standards and patterns.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience at Senior Engineer level.
• Professional development experience with Python and Go, plus the ability to learn unfamiliar technologies.
• Strong knowledge of SQL, relational databases, data models, queries, transformations, and data integration or ETL-style workloads.
• Experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP and modern engineering practices including automated testing, CI/CD, source control, and production support.
• Strong system and solution design, communication, problem-solving, and mentoring skills.
• Interest in developing practical AI and intelligent automation capabilities.

Nice to have

• Docker, Kubernetes, or similar container platforms.
• Data pipelines, integrations, or large-scale data processing.
• Monitoring and observability platforms such as Datadog, Grafana, or Prometheus.
• Frontend or server-side JavaScript technologies such as Angular, React, or Node.
• Generative AI, LLMs, AI Agents, MCP, RAG, embeddings, vector search, or automation implementation experience.
