CTO (PropTech)

Location: Remote-first within the UK, with regular time in London

flatfair is a proptech business with four live products and an established revenue-generating platform.

What you will do

• Lead Technology and Product and define the foundations for the next stage of business growth.
• Set technical direction, make architecture decisions, and establish frameworks, standards, and clear ownership.
• Own engineering delivery end to end while staying close to architecture, code, and technical decision-making.
• Align Product and Engineering around priorities, problem definition, delivery, and measurement.
• Develop engineers, raise team capability, and help a small distributed team maintain delivery momentum.
• Work with the CEO and leadership team to connect business priorities with products and technology.

Requirements

• Senior technology leadership experience in a smaller, growing business.
• Strong technical judgment across software architecture, cloud platforms, APIs, and integrations.
• Experience owning engineering delivery and leading teams beyond Engineering alone.
• Strong software engineering background with enough coding depth to contribute directly when useful.
• Product judgment and experience working closely with or overseeing product management.
• Clear communication, constructive challenge, and sound decision-making when priorities compete.

Nice to have

• Experience in SaaS, fintech, insurtech, proptech, or another technology-enabled service business.
• Experience with Python, Django, Postgres, Vue, AWS, CircleCI, Datadog, or Sentry.
• Background in start-ups, scale-ups, or smaller technology businesses.
