Engineering Manager (AI)

Location: Remote, Texas, United States

Salary: $110,000–$145,000 base pay per year, with potential variable pay and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead, hire, coach, and develop a team of platform engineers across multiple experience levels.
• Own the technical direction of the Operational Decisioning Platform and guide greenfield AWS distributed-systems development.
• Oversee APIs, SDKs, CLIs, developer tooling, developer portals, and managed services used by internal engineering and solutions teams.
• Establish secure multi-account and multi-tenant architectures, identity and access controls, observability, reliability practices, and operational standards.
• Drive platform adoption, reusable capabilities, developer productivity, and coordination across Engineering, Architecture, Product, Identity, and Solutions teams.
• Guide AI-assisted engineering practices and integrate LLMs, AI agents, and related services into modular platform capabilities.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years at Staff through Principal level and at least 2 years in technical leadership or engineering management.
• Experience shipping, operating, and supporting production software, including hiring, mentoring, and developing engineers.
• Strong AWS cloud-native architecture and distributed-systems experience.
• Understanding of secure multi-account and multi-tenant architectures, IAM, tenant isolation, scalability, reliability, and shared platform design.
• Experience with platform engineering, developer tooling, SDKs, infrastructure, or foundational capabilities for other engineering teams.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills across technical and non-technical organizations.

Nice to have

• Experience with multi-tenant SaaS platforms, cross-account control planes, or internal developer platforms at scale.
• Experience with TypeScript, Node.js, Terraform, serverless technologies, container services, managed data stores, and cloud security primitives.
• Experience operating APIs, SDKs, CLIs, developer portals, shared platform services, or complex provisioning automation.
• Experience with trunk-based development, infrastructure as code, automated testing, and incremental reversible releases.
• Experience in energy, logistics, weather, agriculture, or other operationally complex industries.
