Head of Recruiting

Location: San Francisco, California, United States; onsite five days per week. Candidates must be based in or willing to relocate to San Francisco and work in person.

Salary: $100,000–$140,000 base annually, plus equity and benefits; higher compensation may be available for very senior candidates.

What you will do

• Build the recruiting function from the ground up, including processes, tooling, and standards.
• Partner directly with the chief executive on hiring priorities and candidate decisions.
• Source candidates proactively through creative outreach rather than relying on inbound applications.
• Close high-quality candidates competing against other offers.
• Build scalable recruiting systems, including ATS setup, pipelines, and automations.
• Maintain hiring quality as recruiting volume increases.

Requirements

• Proven ability to close talented people against real competition through recruiting, sales, or another high-stakes persuasion role.
• Strong judgment for identifying top-tier talent quickly.
• Experience with proactive sourcing and creative candidate hunting beyond inbound recruiting.
• Systems thinking and the ability to build scalable infrastructure and processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to San Francisco and work onsite five days per week.
